Golf has been played at Kingussie since 1891. With a spectacular
views of the Cairngorm Mountains, the golf course is a pleasure
to play, whether that be on a warm calm summer afternoon or a fresh
winter's morning. With background sounds of rolling rivers, rustling
leaves and nearby birds, you are sure to play a memorable game that
you will one day yearn to repeat. This is no ordinary golf course,
this one is really special!
Club house
This club house overlooks the 1st tee and the end of the 18th.
With wonderful green gardens and panoramic views over the course
and surrounding countryside, many find pleasure in relaxing by a
window table in the club house after a scenic, challenging game.
There are three main areas of the club house:
- The restaurant - Relaxing surroundings. Fresh local produce
is cooked and served by the restaurant chef. (Menu

- The shop - Well stocked golf shop providing golf clothing, accessories
and gifts.
- The bar lounge - A good selection of drinks and spirits are
available at the club's bar. Users of the caravan park (Link)
have automatic use of the facilities.
The Kingussie golf course
The Kingussie golf course offers moderately easy walking on upland
terrain, with a few short climbs at the 4th and 8th holes. In general
the fairways are of a generous nature, but the course is deceptive
and position off the tee is an important consideration, a factor
often the key to low scoring. The course is kept in immaculate order
and offers excellent greens and fairways. Overall, the course provides
an excellent test of shot making, and is suited to all levels of
ability.
With a standard scratch of 67 (yellow) - 68 (white) and 73 - (red
- ladies) the course, while not long, offers a challenging but fair
test of golf. The signature hole on the course is the 4th - while
only some 475 yards in length (par 5), it is a deceptively difficult
hole. Indeed, the general consensus amongst members is to play conservative
golf for the first 4 holes - and once these holes are passed with
a score to handicap intact, you may relax and enjoy!
